Tadeusz Jakubowski, President of Polish National Veterinary Chamber welcomes EuroHiPeCo's gusets and visitors in his special letter:

EuroHiPeCo Fair is not only a meeting of producers and salesmen, but also opportunity to learn about the newest ideas concerning practical applications of science and law in the field of human and animal diseases control. This means using standards of food’s health safety, and acting in favour of consumer’s health and widely understood public health.

Globalisation, present in all aspects of our life, caused that food threats also have become popular, global, affecting whole societies in short time. We can observe migration of people, animal and goods that is hard to supervise. That is why we have to prepare detailed risk analysis, understood as threats occurrence, and when they do occur, we must be able to control them by introducing appropriate procedures. Problems has continental, often global range.

That is why those who suffered them should share their knowledge with others. Especially infectious disease, including zoonosis, have always been dangerous phenomenon in our world. They cause enormous direct economic and social losses, and indirect losses as well, although we tend to forget about them. They lead to collapse of production and trade, eventually to bankruptcy. Appropriate methods of compensating their negative effects have to be at disposal of societies and governments.

European Commission have appropriate program and budget supporting infections control. Consumer safety depends also on conditions of food production, its processing, storing and distribution. One of such activities that guarantee proper standards is created by rule of cross-compliance. We will discuss all these problems at seminars accompanying the Fair, conducted by prominent experts from all over the Europe.
